Wildflower Cottage began its life as a residence in Coburg in Melbourne before an inspired move to the Yarra Valley where it now sits among the trees in its very own bushland sanctuary. A charming weatherboard cottage with stunning period features and unique mid-century furnishings, this home is the perfect retro retreat in the foothills of the Yarra Ranges.
Wake up to the birdsong of kookaburras, parrots and cockatoos. Make yourself at home in the beautifully renovated country kitchen and comfortable living room, or move outside to swing in the trees on the double hammock. At twilight you may catch a wallaby bouncing across the dewy pastures or a wombat scurrying to its burrow. In the evenings, get cosy around the wood fire heater with a glass of local Yarra Valley wine or step outside for some star gazing on a clear night. There are two comfortable bedrooms for guest use, both with queen beds to sleep four guests.
The property is located in Don Valley, the hidden gem of the Yarra Valley. For such a secluded location, the cottage is located less than 90 mins from Melbourne and is only 20 mins to Healesville where this is an abundance of shops, cafes, restaurants and wineries to explore. Ten minutes in the other direction is Yarra Junction where this is a Woolworth Supermarket for your food supplies along with cafes and shops. Travel through Yarra Junction along the Warubrton Highway to Warburton, a perfect township to browse the many shops and eateries. If the weather conditions are cold enough there will be snow at Mt Donna Buang, around 25 minutes from the Cottage. Mt Donna Buang is great for snow play and tobogganing. Please check local websites for road conditions and closures before heading to the Summit. Redwood Forest, Lala Falls and Upper Yarra Dam are all a short drive from Warburton and worth a visit
